The color pattern in a species of duck is determined by a single pair of genes with three alleles. Alleles H and I are codominant, and allele i is recessive to both.

As in the ABO blood system 4 phenotypes are possible in this case: Genotype Phenotype HH, Hi (H) II, Ii (I) HI (HI) ii (i)
