A dynamic host configuration protocol will basically assign every device on a particular internet network an IP address. This will allow the devices to connect to the internet - giving websites a place to send their electronic data - and will allow the devices to connect to each other. The protocol does this by connecting and communicating with the internet service provider, which is basically whatever company offers the internet service.
The dynamic host configuration protocol will often try to use the same IP address for a device if it has been connected to that particular service before. This is a particular kind of dynamic host configuration protocol called automatic allocation. It’s like a server giving you a table at a restaurant because they know you prefer that table for some reason - or to keep the orders in line.
