The Economist’s Dictionary of Economics describes microeconomics as the study of economics at individual consumers, groups of consumers, or firms. The primary concern with economics is the efficient distribution of limited resources between alternative uses.

More specifically, it entails the determination of price through the workings of economic agents, with consumers maximizing utility and firms maximizing profit. Microeconomics pertains to the economic decisions made at a low or micro level instead of macroeconomics, which considers economics from a macro level.

Microeconomics is, at times considered the starting point for studying macroeconomics as it takes a different approach to analyze and understand the economy.

There are different issues that may arise because of microeconomics. Just in case you are not yet familiar, microeconomics deals with knowing the various choices that consumers make depending on the trends. This would study the type of factors that will make them choose certain products over others. They would also like to know how their choices have changed the supply, the demand, and the price of the items that are being sold in the market.

There may be some issues that are connected to it like the recession. Whenever there is a recession, a lot of businesses and individuals are affected because there is just not enough money to go around and keep everyone afloat. Inflation is another problem because prices will get affected regardless of what is happening.

Microeconomics is actually a branch of economics that is derived from two Greek words. One means "micro" in English, which is synonymous with "small" and economics. Microeconomics, as earlier said, is a branch of economics that is concerned with the behavior of firms and individuals to make decisions that have to do with the interactions among these firms and individuals and the allocation of scarce resources also.

One of the things that microeconomics stands to achieve is to help with the analysis of the market mechanisms, which shares limited resources among alternative uses and solidify relative prices among services and goods. Microeconomics is also concerned with the analysis of market failure, where the results produced in the market are not efficient. The other hand of microeconomics is macroeconomics, which is concerned with everything that has to do with economic activity, unlike microeconomics, which deals with the firms and individuals.

Economics considers how people interact by purchasing and selling goods and services. Microeconomics is concerned with problems that involve companies and the governments that handle them. These issues include queries regarding how much firms should charge for a particular good, how much of that good a firm should produce, and what is comprised between profits and production costs businesses should aim to remain competitive. There are shortcomings with economics for strictly academic reasons. Much of the work is centered on creating mathematical models to exemplify the workings of the real world. However, equations can only consider so many variables. Those factors not included in a model do not influence the outcome. Economics examines the cost of paying employees, safety procedures, and how much cash items like these could save the company. There could be moral consequences for making these kinds of decisions. Economics is to some extent about how we make determinations as individuals and partly about how we interact.
