Transcription is the process whereby the genetic information from our DNA is transcribed into a messenger RNA. It is basically the second copy of the instructions from the DNA that goes into the cytoplasm of the cell to be translated into actual proteins.
The transcription allows the body to conserve the integrity of the DNA while providing a dispensable means of conveying the message and forwarding the commands to the cell. The messenger RNA is then translated via ribosomes and transfer RNA into chains of amino acids that will ultimately body together to form the protein molecule with its active sites.
