What did scholar officials do during the Han dynasty?

The scholar officials instituted a system of examinations to prepare professional civil servants during the Han Dynasty. The Han Dynasty was the second imperial dynasty in China. Before it, Qin Dynasty ruled and after the Han Dynasty there was a period known as the Three Kingdoms period which was as long as four centuries.

In the history of China, the Han Dynasty period is considered as the golden age. Even today, a big number of ethnic groups in China considered themselves to be decedents of the Han Dynasty. It is of great prestige and respect for the Chinese in their culture.
