Miss Maudie said it. Her full name is Miss Maudie Atkinson and she is a character in the novel "To Kill A Mockingbird". The novel was published in 1960 and written by Harper Lee. Miss Maudie is the neighbor of Atticus Finch. She divulges information about Atticus to his children.

She also reinforces his beliefs and is hard on those who are hypocritical when it comes to religion. "To Kill A Mockingbird" is an important piece of literature, popular in middle and high schools. It won the Pulitzer Prize and is based of Lee's families and neighbors, when she lived in Monroeville, Alabama as a young girl.
