Most metals are soft, usually at room temperature. You can dent some of them with your fingers, while others can easily be cut with a knife. One of the softest metals people know of is Mercury. This reason is that it exists naturally as a liquid. Although most of these metals are soft, their degree of softness differs.
Apart from mercury, Group1 metals are soft metals; they are examples of metals that you can dent just with your finger. Examples of these metals are Cesium, potassium, lithium, rubidium, sodium. Some metals in group ll, such as calcium and barium, are pretty soft.
Other soft metals include lead, tungsten, platinum, iron, chromium, titanium, etc. While most people will always go for Mercury as the softest metal at room temperature, Cesium is arguably the softest metal. Although most of these metals are soft at room temperature, they can be hardened with heat.
