The common site of the implantation in the uterus is the upper uterine portion. The uterus is the area where the implantation of the fertilized egg usually takes place but there are moments when the egg implants itself somewhere in the abdominal cavity. This can be dangerous to the mother because this area is not fit for carrying a child.

The embryos normal nidation site is the upper portion of the uterus. If the implantation is in the lower segment, this is an abnormal condition called placenta previa.
