The great toe is medial to the little toe. In Latin, Hallux is used to refer to the big toe. There are five toes on each human foot. Each toe consists of three phalanx, and there are joints between each phalanx which are called interphalangeal joints. The proximal phalanx bore of toe articulates with the metatarsal bone of the foot.
The first toe is also known as the innermost toe. The hallux is flexed by the flexor hallucis longus muscle, which is located in the deep posterior of the lower leg. Both the hallux and the little toe have unique muscles.
