For those who are not aware, the mid-ocean ridge is an underwater mountain range. This forms due to the plate tectonics that are both pulling apart from each other. A lot of the mid-ocean ridges in the world rise up to 2 inches every year. There are some that have increased and risen considerably over a certain period of time.

Some mid-ocean ridges are very long, even longer than the mountain ranges found on land. Some people are very interested in the mid-ocean ridge because they find it similar to the mountain ranges that we can find on land. Take note that it is through mid-ocean ridges that the sea floor spreads.
