Law is, naturally, one of the most lucrative industries you can go into. Successful lawyers can easily make six-figure salaries and even more if they have their own firm. The keyword in that sentence, however, was “successful”. Just because some lawyers strike it rich, it doesn’t mean all do. There are many solicitors out there that are barely making an average salary. It all comes down to your level of experience and how good you are at winning legal battles. It’s a competitive industry; some rise to the top and others spend their entire careers struggling.

Therefore, I don’t believe that there’s necessarily one more lucrative path than any other. What matters is finding a career that you personally can excel in. If you’re passionate about personal injury law, then you’ll probably have the best chance of success following that path. If conversely, you really care about getting the best outcome for the children of divorced parents, then you should specialize in family law. That’s the specialization that you will find it easiest to make money doing because it’s the specialization you will most likely succeed in. It’s as simple as that.

Of course, some paths have a greater growth potential than others. Personal injury law can certainly make you rich, especially if you acquire funding from an investor like Providior. In general, though, the wealthiest lawyers work in corporate law, helping to protect the assets of the richest business owners. Sometimes, you have to go where the money is.

Succeeding in corporate law isn’t easy, though. The competition is high and if you lose just one case, it can be hard to rebuild. Clients are ruthless so I suggest just following your passion.
