In July of 2020, many people began the calls for boycotting the Hispanic food brand, Goya. This came after the CEO Robert Unanue attended an event at the White House and gave President Donald Trump praise for his work. The issue with this is that Trump had a very strict immigration policy, which separated Hispanic children from their parents. The children were living in very inhumane conditions, and to this day, the Trump administration has no plan to reunite those families. Many Hispanics and other minorities were offended that the CEO of this brand would go and praise Trump for his policies resulting in the division of families.
A lot of people from the Hispanic community feel like they have been disrespected by President Donald Trump one way or another. Hearing the CEO of Goya Foods talk about how Trump has made a lot of difference made a lot of people angry. This has sparked outrage against all of the items that are made by Goya with some people deliberately not purchasing any product that is made by the company. There are even some lists that are available online of other food products that may be similar to Goya that can be purchased as alternatives. It seems that the pictures of Trump and the rest of his family supporting Goya has outraged people even more.
