Of course, when you go to church, everyone takes a few minutes of silence because they're prating. Also, it is nice to speak while you're praying (of course, at another time, not when everyone is mute).
If you mean those prayers which you do at home, and you ask God things for your life, don't be shy. It's not bad to pray in front of other people.
