1. The first thing you should do before building a wood retaining wall is to determine the location, get the materials needed, and prepare the area where the wall will be built. Examples of materials for this task are
4 by 4 inch posts, 2 by 6 inch boards, etc. Determine the distance between them and get the actual number of the posts you would need.
2. Determine the size of the wood posts and use the same length for each post.
3. The ideal distance between each post should be 3 feet. Mark the spot for each post and maintain the distance of 3 feet between them.
4. A trench that is 12 inch deep should be dug directly along the line marked for the posts.
5. Dig holes that are 46cm deep for all the posts.
6. Level the trench with cement and insert the posts such that they stand and fit properly into the holes, then leave it for about a week to dry.
7. Finally, you can now use carriage bolts to connect the 2 by 6 inch boards to the posts.
