One of the ways by which you can identify a poison sumac tree is by its physical traits.
1. Typically, a poison sumac tree grows into a tree or shrub of about 5 to 20 ft in height. It can even grow taller sometimes.
2. Another feature is its stem. The poison sumac stem has leaves arranged on its stem in a parallel manner. The stem usually consists of 6 to 12 leaves, plus an additional leaf at the end. The stem color is usually similar to a kind of red to brown color. But it might be changing to grey as it ages.
3. When it comes to its leaves. The sumac tree leaves usually have an oblong or oval shape having a point on their end. What differentiates them from the non-poisonous sumac tree leaves is that the non-poisonous ones have a jagged tooth kind of appearance.
4. During the summer and spring, the poison sumac tree usually has green or pale-yellow flowers growing along their own green stem just beside the normal stem.
