1. Write the opening part of the letter, such as the date and the person or body you are writing the letter to.

3. Write about yourself next; your name with respect to any official position you might be holding, or your address.
4. Write about the relationship you have with the person in question. Let it be known: how you know him, and for how long you have known him.
5. Write what you know about the person's charges. Use about just two to four lines on this
6. Write about what you know is going on in the person's life, probably a dilemma the person might be suffering that makes him commit such a crime.
7. State your opinion about the character of the person.
8. Conclude your letter with "Yours faithfully." Ensure you add your signature here.
