Everyone should know how to hotwire a car and get it to start again if it breaks down. You must be careful when working with the wiring and always use the Owner’s Manual for specific instructions about the color coding and wires which correspond with your vehicle.
• Enter the car.
• Get rid of the plastic covering on the steering column.
• Remove the screws holding the column in place and locate the wiring harness connector.
• Once you remove the panels on the steering column, electrical wires and wires leading to column-mounted controls on one side like lights, cruise control, and other gauges will appear.
• Pull aside the battery, ignition, and starter wire bundle.
• One of these will be the central power supply for the ignition switch.
• The colors that distinguish between the wires varies depending on the manufacturer.
• Strip just about one inch of insulation from the battery wires and twist them together.
• Bind them with electronics tape and do not permit them to short against metal vehicle components.
• Connecting these will deliver electricity for the ignition parts so that the engine can run when the starter is turned.
• Link the ignition on/off a wire to the battery wire.
• To operate the vehicle, you will need to spark the starter wire, which can be risky if you do not comprehend what you are executing.
• Be exceptionally careful, and keep a close hold of bare wires.
• Rev the engine.
• Once the engine starts, you can detach the starter wire.
• When you want to turn off the engine, unfasten the battery wires from ignition wires so that the car can drive.
• Break the steering lock.
• Be cautious as you drive away.
