There are different ways of writing the table of contents. However, the steps offered below are based on how to write the table of contents using a word processor.
1. The first thing you should do is to start a new page and write "Table of Contents" at the top of the page. The table of contents page usually comes after the dedication or introduction page, and you shouldn't make the mistake of writing everything on a single page.
2. Continue by listing all the headings of the document under the Table of Contents you wrote in step one. It is important to note that all the headings should be arranged accordingly, i.e., as they appear in the document.
3. You can also include the subheadings, though they must be arranged as they come under each heading.
4. The page number of each heading should be written directly in their front.
5. Create two columns of the content of the page i.e., the headings in one column and the page numbers in the second column.
