The best way to identity elm tree leaves is by looking at some of its basic characteristics.

1. The leaves of the elm tree are oval in shape. The stem is divided into two ways right from its base to the top, and they all come together to meet at a point, specifically at the top.

2. The veins of elm tree leaves are prominent, and their edges are jagged. The edges of the elm tree leaves are the broadest part of the leaf.

3. You can also identify elm tree leaves by considering the size of the leaf. For instance, the size of an American elm leaf is usually between 10-15 centimeters or you can say four-six inches.

4. However, in some parts of the world where elm trees are grown, their leaves ten centimeters long.

5. Another thing that can be used to identity elm tree leaves is the total number of the veins in each leaf. The average is usually 14 veins on the bottom, and 17 on the front.
