An executive summary is a summary of a document that gives brief details of a large business plan. An executive summary highlights key findings and takeaways from the research. Executive writing should not be more than two pages long.

An executive summary should include the following important component, which includes an explanation of why the research was conducted, the result from the research, and suggestions on how to manage the business.

An executive summary should always come last this helps the reader remember the keynotes in the research; it should always capture the reader’s attention and be self-explanatory, short, and interesting. Always start an executive summary with a striking word that will provoke the interest of the reader.

An executive summary is an essential aspect of a business document. It is a brief review of your capabilities and how you will use them to get the job done.

These simple steps will explain how to write an executive summary.

• Write the purpose of the company sponsoring the document or of the original document.

• Make the hook something that will grab the attention of the reader.

• In two or three sentences, you should explain to the reader why your business is unique.

• Define the big problem.

• The first part of an executive summary is the discussion of the problem. Provide a unique solution to the problem.

• Touch upon market potential. Break it down to realistic market potential. Incorporate your selling proposition.

• Describe what gives explicitly your product a leg up over the competition.

• Talk about your business model.

• Answer important questions. How will you get people to pay for you for your product?

• Provide financial estimates which support your claims.

• The outcome will be either an investment or loan, depending upon the purpose of the summary.

• Kickstart your executive summary with a summary

• The executive summary must be written with the same order as the order with which the was written

• Be sure to exclude foreign materials in your executive summary. Only include materials that are present in your main report.

You should know that an executive summary is brief information about your business plan and the various services you offer, plus your target market. As the name implies, you are not expected to give too many details but summaries of what your business is all about. Start an executive summary by revealing your products or the various services you offer, or the problems you are solving.

A brief description of your target market should follow. The idea is to make sure you are targeting the right audience or market. At times, you can know what a company is all about just by their names. As you know that businesses strive by competing with one another in the market, you must ready to show how and what you intend to do to make your business is not consumed in no time.

You should also reveal your financial overview. You should also reveal your financial needs. Also, don't forget to include those who are working with you or those who will be working with you.

One of the mistakes that people make is assuming that a business summary should be a few pages long. This is not true at all.

  • A business summary can be about a page or two.
  • Remember that you only need to place your mission and your vision of your business.
  • You can also state some of the reasons you think there are certain plans and goals that will definitely work out.
  • Provide some details about your company or your organization. Highlight your financial status and your current needs.
  • If you are able to place everything that you need, it will be easy for sure. Remember that an executive summary should always place the details of the report.

An executive summary prefaces a business plan or a proposal for investment. The summary should begin with an introduction. The introduction will vary based upon who the audience is. From there, the summary should have a table of contents that are written in a bullet list. Then, the role of the company and any strengths the company has should be explained. Next, any problems that the company has should be listed. The summary should go on to recommend any type of solution and justify how the solution fits in the company. The last part of the summary should be a strong conclusion.
