A letter of intent is a letter that introduces your application before the employer gets to your resume; it is much like a cover letter. A letter of intent should include only relevant and meaning full details; it should be attached to a resume.

When writing your letter of intent, make sure you introduce yourself; if you are applying for a job, name the position you are applying for. Start getting into specifics, state the reason for your letter, state your credentials, your achievement, and some good things you have done in line with that position.

Make sure you request a response as you are concluding, do not forget to sign off. Always proofread and edit your work to see errors and mistakes.

• The letter of intent states your interest in working for a particular organization. In some cases, there may be a certain role that you are interested in, but most of the time, you are only throwing yourself to the arms of the company for any opportunities the company has to offer you. Though the letter of intent has been confused with the cover letter, then the two are different; the cover letter is job focused while the letter of intent is actually company focused.

A letter of intent can also be written with the initials LOL. In the business world, it is a cover letter for a job application and should complement the resume. To write the letter, the first step is writing the name and address of the person who will be receiving the letter. Then, start to write a letter. This should be done by introducing oneself and then including any accomplishments that the person has. From there, the person should write what they intend to bring to the business if they are hired, I.e., more sales or more clients to the company.
