What is the moon made of?

The Moon is a rocky satellite, and it is composed of similar material to the Earth. It consists of an external layer of rocks and a core that is made up of iron. Unlike the Earth's liquid mantle, the inside of the Moon is cool and solid. There is limited or no volcanic activity on the Moon.
