An inquiry is a process utilized to dispel any doubt and improve knowledge of something. It could also be finding a solution to a problem. We will often see news where someone is responsible for gathering information necessary to inquire.

You can conduct inquiries using many tools such as speaking with others, reviewing documents, and asking the right questions. On the contrary, the investigation is a formal way of checking things out to obtain the facts and the truth.

For example, private investigators build their careers on solving problems and answering questions. These investigators arrive at the truth by analyzing the points that are provided or collected and thoroughly checked.

An inquiry is defined as the systematic search for information, knowledge, and truth about an important subject or matter of interest. It is the process of researching and questioning to solve a problem. The purpose of the inquiry is to find information while simultaneously putting to bed any doubts at all about the truth of something.

The word inquiry means to inquire. The investigation, on the other hand, is defined as the method of inquiring that is more serious and intense. The goal is to reveal the facts concerning the topic at hand. An investigation is done more carefully than an inquiry, and it is more thorough in its inspection of details in an organized manner.

When you say inquiry, this means that these are proceedings that are conducted by the court. This can also be conducted by the magistrate. When you say the investigation, this means that this is a process that is usually being followed by the authority.

For example, there are some police officers who will be in charge of investigations. There are also times when there are some higher authorities who will be in charge of conducting the investigation.

When someone investigates, this means that the person is trying to come up and find as much evidence as they can. When you say inquiry, this can also be non-judicial. Some can inquire about the most random things.

Inquiries and investigations are two things that take place in the legal field. Inquiries are made by the court or a magistrate. The point of an inquiry is to determine whether the facts of a case or true or false, which can help determine if further action needs to be taken. Investigations are carried out by police or a person that the magistrate gives permission to investigate. An investigation is done for the purpose of collecting evidence to help build the case of a prosecution. Both are related to criminal cases, but investigations are the first step of the case, while inquiries are the second step.
