Approve and authorize are both English verbs that relate to a demonstration of affirmation towards an act or object. Approve means to confirm, endorse, or sanction officially or to consider as good. It is an expression of acceptance towards someone or something.

Approve means to feel okay or comfortable with another person or object. On the other hand, authorize has a more formal meaning. It means to grant clearance for or delegate power to another person for the purpose of enacting the consent to move forward. With authorize, there should be a close involvement between the authorizer and the one being authorized.

When you say authorize, this means that you would like to grant someone with the power to do something. When you say approval, this means that you would like to confirm that something is true. There are instances when you need to approve something because you are going to get something out of it. You would usually seek authorization when you want to give approval for someone to start doing a project or a task. For example, there are some companies that will not be allowed to start building until they are not authorized to start. Then, they would need to seek approval for the designs that they are going to create too.

Approve means to substantiate, endorse, or sanction officially and render something as good or acceptable. It could also mean favorable or the right thing or action. On the other hand, authorize means to grant permission for, to allocate power to, or to pass. It also means a position of power over others, for good or for bad.

You could even say that authorize is a word of formal action, and it is an extension of authority to another person for some productivity or engagement. Approve means it is something with which you are either okay or on board. Approval means you have been given the authority to achieve or do something. Approval is also something that can be earned. You can run into a position where you have to prove yourself to gain approval; however, it sounds more commanding to have authority over something or someone.

An example of this would be “He has the authority to fire me from my job.” An example of approval would be, “I approve of the two of you entering into this marriage. There are some formal situations in which using the word authority is appropriate and vice versa.

There are some words that people may get confused about whenever they use these words. Two of these words that people may interchange are "approve" and "authorize." When you say approval, this means that you would like to confirm something, or there is something that you would like to commend.

When you say authorize, this means that you would like to show that someone is in power. There are some people who would like to find someone who is in authority so that someone can be properly approved.

It can be confusing, but this is hard. When you say “approve,” this may also mean that you are referring to a process, but when you say “authorize,” this refers to a simple action.

Authorize and approve are both verbs. These words are used to speak towards a reaction that is affirmed. This reaction can be to an action or an object. Authorization is used in the context of empowering. An example of using the world is "The manager authorized a price override for the customer's transaction." Approve is to confirm something that has been accepted. An example of using the word approval is "John's parents approve of his second-semester grades." An authorization is more direct and formal, while approval is an expression of favoring something. Approval can also be seen as an extension of accepting an action.
