Spices and herbs are a flavorful ingredient that is used for cooking; they add flavors, colors, aroma, nutrients, and texture and use for drugs. Herbs and spices are confusing; however, they have a definite difference.
Spices are made from the roots, bark, berries, seeds, fruits, stem, flowers of a tree or plant, while herbs are the leaves of a plant. Spices include cinnamon. Turmeric, garlic, and so on, herbs include rosemary, sage, thyme, oregano, basil, and parsley.
A plant can produce both the spice and herbs, an example of such plant is Cilantro leaves are an herb while coriander is a spice, another example is Dill weed seeds are used as a spice while the leaves are used as an herb.
