An abscess is a pocket of pus that has amassed in a cavity formed by the tissue in which the pus resides based on an infectious process, which is usually caused by bacteria, parasites, or other miscellaneous unwelcome invaders. An abscess is typically the body’s attempt to prevent the spread of infected tissue from the nearby healthy cells from keeping the pus from touching other tissues.
An abscess is characterized by redness, heat, inflammation, or pain. Some abscess can even be fatal. Boils, on the other hand, can occur in the form of cystic acne caused by the clogging of the sebaceous glands or cysts, which occur along the buttock crease. Another common type of a boil is an eye stye, which grows from infected hair follicles of the eyelashes.
Boils may be caused by splinters or bacterial entry through cuts or access to inner tissues. Boils are characterized by bumpy red pus-filled lumps around a hair follicle that are raw, oily, warm, and very painful. They can range from small-sized to giant-sized.
