Law is said to be a list of rules that all of society must adhere to, and if they do not, there will be consequences. Laws are overseen by the government and enforced by the courts. The purpose of law is to establish order and security for the citizens to balance and harmony within a society.

On the other hand, Equity allows courts to apply justice based on natural law and their discretion. Whenever there is controversy surrounding the application of common law, equity is used. The most evident difference between law and equity lies in the solutions they offer.

Common law typically grants monetary damages in some instances, but equity can mean that someone acts or does not act on something. Law courts can order writs that are more difficult to attain and are less malleable than injunctions ordered by equity courts. While law count can involve a jury, there is no jury involved in equity, and it is the judge who determines the outcome.

The main difference between law and equity is what they would be able to offer. When you go to a court of law, you can expect that you would need to get monetary damages especially if someone has done you harm. When you say “equity,” this would refer to the type of remedies and some procedures that are meant to solve the issues that are being faced. Take note that law and equity laws are going to be different and should not be mistaken for each other. There are different equitable remedies when they feel that a remedy is not adequate enough or is not sufficient.

The law consists of a specific set of rules and codes of conduct that we are all expected to follow, and the law governs the community, which is enacted by it’s chosen politicians. The law is controlled by the government and enforced by the courts. The purpose of the law is to create order so that chaos does not ensue. Laws should defend freedom, but there have to be certain limitations put in place.

On the other hand, Middle Age England is the place where the concept of equity was cultivated as a replacement to the strict set of rules or laws which were said to be too oppressive and challenging when they are applied in some instances. It is a set of principles that promotes fairness and equality and also follow the natural law.

Law is the rule that governs the activities of a community that is backed by authority, while equity is also a body of rules that follows the law and fairness. The Law of the land is established so people can treat each other well; it is a legal system that is controlled and regulated by the government.

Equity was developed when in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries when the writ system failed. Equity is formed to reduce the roughness of some law.

It is an institute that advocates fairness. In a court of law, a case is handled by the jury and the judge, while in equity, the case is heard and resolved by a judge. Equity order injunction while law orders writs.

Law is known to be a body of rules that have been created and regulated by the government, and they are enforced by the courts so that people will have something to base on, especially when they are planning to do a few things.

Take note that laws should be made with fairness in mind so that most people will be able to benefit. Inequity, only the judge, will be required to be there so that a case can be settled, but if people have broken the law, the case should be heard in court with the jury and the judge. It is not only the judge who will decide on what will happen with the case and how it will be resolved.
