A clause is known to be a group of words that will come with a subject and verb unit. Normally, it will come with a second group of words where the subject and verb will become obvious. A phrase, on the other hand, is another group of words but this will not have a complete thought because it will not have a subject and a verb.

Clause and phrase are important in the world of the English language. There are times when sentences will not be complete without these. They can also make some things easier to understand. Most sentences will have one clause and one phrase.

Phrases and clauses are parts of the English language. This is learned in first and secondary education. They can help a person convey emotion and put together words in a sentence. Phrases are expressions that are short and simple.

Though they are short, they have a lot of meaning to them. An example of a phrase is "My mother was waiting for you outside". This short phrase can convey a number of different things including urgency or a need.

Clauses are phrases that have both a verb and a noun. Clauses are broken up into two types, which are dependent and independent clauses.

A phrase and a clause are two different topics you would have learned in the English Language, even at the secondary stage of schooling. Foremost, the phrase is known to be a short and simple expression, but it is meaningful. It can be defined as a word or group of words that functions as a unit in the syntax of a sentence, and it usually consists of a central word or a head and elaborating words.

The phrase can be simplified as a fragment of a sentence that contains a noun or a verb. You should kindly note that a phrase does not contain both noun and verb, but just one of the two. In contrast, the clause simply refers also to a fragment of a sentence that actually contains both noun and verb.

There majorly two kinds of clauses, which are the dependent clause and the independent clause. The independent clause can stand on their own to make a meaningful statement, while the dependent clause needs to be attached to another clause to make a meaningful sentence.

A phrase is known to be a group of words that can be placed together but will not have complete meaning. A sentence, on the other hand, will be composed of different words, but they would provide a complete meaning. This means that there would be a subject and a predicate plus a lot of other words that will let you know exactly what the words are trying to convey.

There are times when people only use phrases because the other person to whom the message is being relayed to may already understand what is being said. A clause is known to be a part of a sentence that will always contain the subject and one verb.
