The skin is the largest organ in the body; it acts as a protective sheath for delicate organs against environmental agents like sun, water, wind, etc. The skin has three-layer, which include the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis.
The epidermis is the outer layer of the skin; it has no blood vessels in it; it is stacked with many layers with one above the other. The epidermis is made up of melanocytes, keratinocytes, and other cells. The melanocytes present in this layer gives the skin the color we see it. The diffused oxygen gotten from the environment nourishes the epidermis
The dermis contains the sweat gland, hair follicles, apocrine glands, sebaceous glands. It contains almost all the adipocytes present in the skin. It contains blood vessels that dilate when the temperature is high and contract when the temperature falls. The nerve endings present in the dermis are for touch, pain, pressure.
