There are some people who would like to know how the Pride Month started and this actually started out in the year 1994 although most people are not aware of this. This was first done in order to commemorate the Stonewall Riots that happened many months before.

There are different people who have contributed to the origination of Pride Month. For example, pride month history was first started by a high school teacher named Rodney Wilson. What he did was he made sure that people are more aware of what pride month is and what it is for.

Take note that pride month history usually happens in October while the usual pride month happens in June.

The LGBT originated in the United States and was first celebrated by the bisexual activist Brenda Howard; she was called the “Mother of Pride.” She also initiated the idea of celebrating it a week full of series of events and activities, which later developed into the annual LGBT celebration held every June.

This would not have been successful without the impact of some activists such as Robert A. Martin (aka Donny the Punk) and L. Craig Schoonmaker. They made the word “Pride” widely known, which was later used to describe the event.

President Bill Clinton declared the month of June as Gay and Lesbian pride month in 1999, and President Barack Obama passed the bill on May 28, 2010, and declared June LGBT pride month.

This is when it became official by President Bill Clinton. At that time, it was called Gay & Lesbian Pride Month. Clinton went on to formally recognize it the next year, which was the last year of his presidency.
