AMOLED and Super AMOLED are excellent display technologies used in different devices. While AMOLED is also a recent technology when compared to other archaic displays like cathode ray tube, Super AMOLED is a newer technology, and it corrects some of the limitations of its predecessor. In fact, from their names, it is evident that Super AMOLED is a newer version of AMOLED.
AMOLED is the short form of Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode or Active-matrix OLED. The AMOLED screen is equipped with different four layers i.e., the thin film transistor (TFT) array, a cathode layer, the substrate, active organic layer, but Super AMOLED comes with an additional component known as the touch sensor.
In terms of power consumption, Super AMOLED consumes less power compared to AMOLED. One of the downsides of the AMOLED screen is the issue of sunlight reflection; however, the Super AMOLED screen has improved on this. Another difference is that Super AMOLED produces quality and brighter pictures compared to AMOLED.
