Global warming refers to a continuous increase in the average temperature of the Earth, which usually leads to climate change. Global warming is caused by greenhouse gases such as CH4, CO2, and N20. These gases are capable of absorbing the heat coming from the sun, and after which, they emit the heat back to the earth's surface.
Invariably, these gases cause the greenhouse effect i.e., the process by which the earth is warmed by its atmosphere. Acid rain, on the other hand, is a type of rain that is marked by low pH (i.e., pH of less than the regular range of 5 to 6) and a high quantity of hydrogen ions.
The major cause of acid rain is atmospheric pollution, and this is caused by the presence of gases such as sulfur dioxide and other nitrogen compounds in the atmosphere. These gases react with the water molecules in the atmosphere, and during precipitation, they fall on the earth's surface in the form of acid.
