Tennis and badminton are known to be different sports that people are fond of. These sports make use of rackets but the rackets are different in terms of size and the materials that are used. Tennis rackets are considered to be heavier as compared to badminton rackets. The courts where these sports will be played are also different from each other.

For example, the court for badminton is only 44 feet long while the court that is used for tennis is 78 feet long. The width of the court where these sports will be played is also going to be different. Tennis courts are going to be wider. The net that will be used for badminton will be taller than the net that will be used for tennis.

Whether you are a fan or you are playing it, sports are a great pastime. All over the world, there are many sports that can be played and watched. Two of those are tennis and badminton. They are both games that are played with a racket.

One of the differences between the two is the type of court that it can be played on. Tennis is played on a larger court, while badminton is played on smaller courts. Their court is half of the size of the tennis court. Along with that, they are played different. Tennis has more running, while badminton has more jumping.

Badminton and tennis are most times confused by many to be the same, probably because both games have a lot of things in common. For instance, both games look very similar when you compare their courts. Also, players make use of rackets when playing the two games.

In tennis, the primary object used is a fuzzy yellow-green ball, which must be volleyed over a net. A similar object used in badminton is called a shuttlecock. In tennis, the game can be played by two opposing players. However, tennis can also be played by four players in doubles. On the other hand, badminton can be played by two opposing players or by two opposing pairs of players.

However, unlike in tennis, the maximum number of players per team is not limited to 2 but 6. The height of the net in the two games is another differentiating feature. In badminton, the net is 5 feet high, whereas tennis uses a net that is not far from the ground.

Both Badminton and Tennis are racket games which are recognized all over the globe. Both games can be played by either a pair of individuals or four individuals in sets of two. Tennis uses larger courts, and the nets are about 36 inches higher than the ground, while Badminton courts are smaller, being about half of the size of a tennis court with nets that are further away from the ground level.

In order to emerge as the winner in a tennis match, you need to have won six games first with a margin of two or even more games. While to win in Badminton, you need to just be the first to score twenty-one points.

The Footwork pattern between those two games is also very different, while badminton patterns would require more jumps and also lunges. Footwork in Tennis basically requires more running coupled with abrupt starts and stops.

There are so many differences between Tennis and Badminton, though both are similar in that they can either be played by two opposing pairs of players or two opposing players. One of the ways to differentiate between tennis and badminton is by comparing the size and layout of their courts. Tennis courts are twice the size of badminton courts.

You will understand this when you compare the length and width of the two courts. Tennis courts are 78 feet in length and have 36 feet as their width, whereas badminton courts are 44 feet in length and measure 20 feet in width. The types of rackets used by the two hands are not the same. The weight of the rackets used in tennis ranges between 250 to 360 grams.

In contrast, the weight of the rackets used in badminton is usually less than 100 grams. In badminton, once a player has 21 points, he/she is declared the winner. In tennis, the winner will be declared if someone leads by two or more points after winning six games.
