There are many instances where a person will see GMO and non-GMO products. They are mainly seen in food products. GMO stands for genetically modified organisms. This means the product has been modified in one way or another. Non-GMO differs from GMO because it does not have any modifications.
However, just because a product says non-GMO does not mean it is 100% organic. There are some non-GMO products that use things like chemicals and pesticides the products, which takes away from it being organic. For organic products they differ because they have the same genetic makeup throughout the entire process.
Some people have used the terms organic and non-GMO interchangeably because they thought that these two terms are the same. GMO means genetically modified organisms, so something that is non-GMO means that it has not been modified in any way.
There are some ingredients that are considered to be non-GMO, and they are not supposed to be placed in organic products. Take note that even non-GMO products make use of pesticides and other chemicals, while organic products have not received any of these products.
Basically, GMO means that the products already have altered DNA. Non-GMO means that the DNA has not been altered but has still been exposed to some chemicals or pesticides. Organic products have retained their genetic makeup.
