What is the difference between Pentium and Core 2 Duo?

You know that when you are purchasing the right processor, you have to make sure that you are paying for what you are buying. Pentium is known to be a line of microprocessors that come from the 486 lines that were created before.

Core 2 obviously comes from the Core Line that has also been created before. If you would check the performance of the two, Core 2 is considered to be better in terms of performance.

It will be faster as compared to Pentiums. They also do not have the same architecture so you cannot choose one to replace the other if the gadget requires a certain type.

Pentium and Core 2 Duos are models of Intel processors. Pentium processor was launched in 1993, and the Core Duo was launched in 2006. The Pentium is a processor that follows the 486 lines while the core 2 follows the core line.

The Core Duo processor is more powerful than the Pentium processor. Pentium devices use windows based machines while the Core processors are installed in Apple computers. The core processor has unique and more advanced software such as Intel’s Turbo Boost and HyperThreading options for configuration.

Pentium is either single or dual-core, while core Duo is a dual-core processor. The Core Pentium Processor has a higher clock speed compared to the Core 2 Duos. There are new series of Pentium now since the release of the last one we have the Pentium Pro, Pentium 2, Pentium 3, and Pentium.
