If in case you are not too familiar with these terms, these are known to be stitches. The purl stitch will be easy to distinguish because you will notice that they have some bumps that are horizontal. When you say a “knit” stitch, this is a type of stitch wherein the yarn will be placed on either side of what is being made. It will make it seem like you are creating the letter V.

Knitting and purling are usually combined when stitching clothes. There are differences between knitting and purling, especially in the style of their stitching. In knitting, the needle does inside up and behind the stitch. Knitting stitching is usually used to make the visible part.

Stitching done with knitting is usually V-shaped and flat. In knitting, the right needle is usually placed behind the left needle. In Purling, the needle does down, and always in front of the stitching, stitch done with purling is usually in the form of a small horizontal bar. During purling, the right needle is placed in front of the left needle. Purl stitches are usually seen at the backside, a purl stitch can be called a reverse of a knit stitch.
