Groups and teams can be interchangeable, but they still have different meanings. A group is usually comprised of 2-4 members that work together, and an example would be a study group, which forms because of the desire of each individual to obtain a good grade. Although they work together, each person has their responsibility to learn for themselves.
Another example of a group is a book club or a writer’s group. It is a group of people who share common interests and are trying to procure knowledge. A team, on the other hand, usually consists of 7-12 members, and they are helping each other to develop the skills needed for a favorable outcome.
An example of a team is a football team or some other sports team. These teams generally work together for a purpose, which is to defeat their opponents. Teams do not typically depend on a leader for guidance, and the major distinction between the two is a group is easier to manage than a team.
