Freight brokers are known to be effective in connecting shippers and carriers so that they can check the movement of the freight. When you say freight forwarder, this is in charge of making sure that the packages will be shipped easily in different countries.

For example, when you need to bring the package from the United States to another country, the freight forwarder will be in charge of this. Freight forwarders will ship the freight under their own bills of lading just to be sure. Freight brokers will also oversee the movement of the packages or the freight that is being shipped from one place to another.

The brokers and also the freight forwarders are both middlemen in business transactions. A freight forwarder can also be called a forwarding agent he takes care of the shipment of some particular business transactions. The forwarder may also be the carrier of the individual or the company doing the business deal or a third party from the business deal. His responsibility is to book shipments space for transporting cargoes through trucks, ships, or even planes. While the broker in comparison has the responsibility of transacting between the two parties. They are intermediates for the buyer or the seller. The buyers and sellers could either be individuals or corporate companies. Whenever there is a successful deal or business transaction the broker gets a commission on the sale. Whenever a broker acts as the middle man or intermediates he takes upon himself the role of the principal which confers on him the authority to act on behalf of the buyer and seller.

If you would like to become an importer or an exporter, you need to know the difference between a freight broker and a freight forwarder. A freight broker is someone who has the right license to do his tasks properly. He is in charge of the importing aspect of export transactions. He will also be in charge of submitting all of the necessary documents so that requirements will be met. A freight forwarder, on the other hand, will be more in charge of the transportation of the cargo. They will be in charge of connecting with the people who will make sure that transportation will go on seamlessly and smoothly.

When you say freight forwarder, they are in charge of arranging the shipping of the various goods that would need to be sent to their customers. This way, the customers do not need to worry about how the items that they have ordered will be shipped to them anymore. When you say freight forwarder, this usually means that these are the people or the company in charge of handling various shipments. The shipments may usually come from different destination points. Most of these may come from the US. Take note that freight brokers are used to handling different international shipments. Freight forwarders will not usually handle the same things.

The reason why freight forwarders and brokers are often thought to be the same is that both usually act as middlemen for certain business transactions. Aside from this little similarity, one must not make the mistake of using the two terms interchangeably because they are not the same in terms of functions and responsibilities. A freight forwarder simply refers to someone who is into the business of the shipments of certain goods. This can be a single person or a company, and part of their jobs is to book for shipment spaces for the transportation of cargoes through whatever means.

A freight forwarder is usually acting as the third party during business transactions of this nature. A broker, on the other hand, is someone acting like a middleman between a buyer and a seller. Part of the responsibilities of a broker is to execute transactions between two parties. However, upon every successful transaction, the broker is entitled to a specified commission.
