There is much debate surrounding this subject, as those who believe in fate tend to be either religious or looking for a soul mate. However, free will is essential because it infers that we can do the work ourselves and still succeed. The notion of probabilities and predictions have made it easier for those who favor free will as opposed to fate. This choice is because we can say that every decision, we have made gets us a step closer to where we will end up because of those choices.

There is also the psychological component that free will requires a certain amount of self-esteem for us to be able to believe in ourselves, as opposed to letting things rest in the hands of “fate.” It has been said that if you eradicate someone’s belief that he or she controls their own life or their environment, then poor self -esteem may be the result. This result is because self-esteem, primarily comes from believing in yourself, but fate renders the person virtually helpless.

Fate and free will are two words that totally opposite in meaning, both in English language and psychology. Fate describes a phenomenon whereby a man cannot control the happenings around him, but he accepts whatever the situation is that comes his way. However, free will, on the contrary, describes the ability of a man to be able to exercise his own choice over a particular situation or circumstance.

A particular theory in philosophy actually explains that man would have been subjected to fate through his life, but the only hope he has over fate is his free will. According to Bohr's conviction, he believed that man would have been bound to his fate, but free will can help him to control his course. Free will is a choice that man has over his fate. In conclusion, let every man exercise his free will or else he would be taken advantage of by fate because fate cannot always be positive, it can be a brutal negative happening sometimes.
