Albuterol is an example of drugs used to dilate and relax the bronchial passage so as to ease or improve the flow of air in and out of the lung. This drug is indicated for people suffering from certain conditions relating to the lungs, such as emphysema, asthma, etc. Levalbuterol offers similar health benefits like Albuterol. Although both offer similar health benefits, Levalbuterol has proven to be a perfect drug for asthma without inducing more side effects. This means the degree of these side effects is higher in Albuterol than in Levalbuterol. These side effects are jitters, increased heart rate, shakiness, etc. The duration of the action of Levalbuterol is longer than that of Albuterol.

For instance, Levalbuterol works about 5-8 hours, whereas the duration of action of Albuterol is between 4-6 hours. Looking at the various advantages of Levalbuterol over Albuterol, it is a no-brainer that Levalbuterol would cost more than Albuterol.

Both drugs have similar properties in the sense that they both work on the Beta-2 receptors, which helps to relax specific muscles involved with the illness. Albuterol is mostly used to treat several conditions, including irritated lung, asthma, or emphysema. Levalbuterol is commonly used in conjunction with asthma inhalers. Albuterol has a shorter duration of relief compared to levalbuterol.

Albuterol lasts from 4-6 hours compared to levalbuterol, which lasts from 5-8 hours. Consequently, this is the primary reason why levalbuterol is more expensive than albuterol. Both of these medications have long been found to provoke specific side effects, which include tachycardia, shakiness, and jitters.
