The various differences between woods and forests are very easy to understand. For instance, the word "wood" can be used to have the same meaning as the forest. When this word is in its plural form i.e., woods, it means a dense collection of trees covering a very small area. Though, in their actual meaning, the size of a forest is bigger than that of woods.
At times, the word wood can be used to refer to all the materials that make up a tree. Also, wood can be used as a verb. It means to hide behind trees, or to take or get a supply of wood. On the other hand, forest means a dense collection of trees and undergrowth. Like I explained earlier, a forest is bigger than the woods. At times, a forest can be referred to as a defined area of land used in England as royal hunting ground or for other activities.
