The various differences between woods and forests are very easy to understand. For instance, the word "wood" can be used to have the same meaning as the forest. When this word is in its plural form i.e., woods, it means a dense collection of trees covering a very small area. Though, in their actual meaning, the size of a forest is bigger than that of woods.

On the other hand, forest means a dense collection of trees and undergrowth. Like I explained earlier, a forest is bigger than the woods. At times, a forest can be referred to as a defined area of land used in England as royal hunting ground or for other activities.

Kids are playing outside near the park near their home, are playing in the woods, not the forest. A forest is more of an area that encompasses a wide diversity of wildlife. Forests have a thicker, more vibrant tapestry compared to the woods.
