As we all know that the lungs are a vital organ in our respiratory system, they can be divided into two, i.e., the left lung and the right lung. One of the major differences between the right lung and the left lung is the presence of three lobes in the right lung, i.e., upper lobe, middle lobe, and lower lobe. In contrast, the left lung only has two lobes, i.e., the upper lobe and the lower lobe.
Another difference is that the right lung has two bronchi, whereas the left lung has one bronchus. When you compare their base shape, the left lung is less concave than the right lung. Generally, the right lung is wider and shorter in shape, whereas the left lung has an oblong shape. The shortness of the right lung is as a result of its closeness to the liver. Aside from these little differences, their major role is to control breathing and oxygenate the blood.
