The major differences between dogs and cats can be well explained by comparing their character, and certain physical features of the two. One of the major differences in their character is their relationship with others of their kind and people who keep them as pets. Dogs like to move in groups, and they tend to enjoy the company of humans. This is because, in their nature, they are lively and you can't get tired of playing with them.
Although cats are also kept as pets, but they are not as lively as dogs; at times, they like to be alone. Another differentiating feature between the two is in the types of sounds they make as you know already, dogs bark, woof, and growl. In contrast, purr and meow (the cry of a cat) are the types of sounds made by cats. While dogs can be used for security purposes, cats can only kill smaller animals.
