Baptist is one of the denominations that exist in Christianity. This denomination was formed based on the doctrine that every believer who claims to be a member must be baptized. Unlike in other denominations where Baptism is done by the sprinkling of water, this denomination preaches that baptism should be done by total immersion. Baptist preaches that one can only be saved by professing and having faith in Jesus Christ.
Although members of this denomination are usually classified as Protestants, they don't usually see themselves as one. On the other hand, Presbyterian is usually used for people who support church government i.e., a type of church governed by presbyters and elders. These people support Presbyterianism, a form of protestant Christian church government that has its root from the British Isles. While Baptist doesn't support infant baptism, Presbyterian practices it. Another difference is that the Presbyterians also use aspersion method to unbaptized adults.
Baptists believe that salvation is attained only through faith in God. God leads one towards salvation from this world into heaven. On the other hand, Presbyterians firmly believe that God has predetermined who he wishes to save and who will be condemned to hell. Baptists baptize only those who have asserted their faith in Christ. They do not baptize children.
Baptists are do not emulate their behaviors or control their life with the Holy Sacraments. On the contrary, scriptures are of the utmost importance to the Presbyterian faith. The Baptists believe that faithful prayer to Jesus Christ cultivates wisdom. Presbyterians trust that Jesus died on the cross only for those who were chosen to be saved.
