Glucose and dextrose are the two most often confused terms, many food labels marked with either glucose or dextrose.in a hospital setting dextrose is used to maintain the blood glucose level of a patient and are also used in many pharmacopeias, glucose in food labels are often given negative connotation compared to dextrose.

Glucose and dextrose both have the same chemical formula of C6H12O6.
Glucose is an aldohexose, while dextrose, on the other hand, is the name given to a glucose monohydrate compound.

Dextrose and glucose have a different atomic arrangement in space, and they also appear as mirror images of each other. Glucose is also the most common form of simple sugars and also occurs as L and D glucose isomers, while dextrose is a form of glucose.
