Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) and Staphylococcus Aureus are widely known by their common name of staph infections. Staphylococcus aureus by itself is bacteria that live on a person's skin. This becomes an infection when there is a break in the person's skin, and it enters the wound. It can lead to many symptoms, including boils and hair follicles that are affected. MRSA is a strain of Staphylococcus Aureus. With this strain, it is resistant to the antibiotic methicillin. This strain can cause a higher risk of complications, as well as higher amount of mortality rates. MRSA is common in places where people are in close contacts, such as daycares and gyms.
