Ambulance and ambulette are two related things, but they are both different from each other. They are both vehicles used in the transportation of sick people. An ambulance is more popular than an ambulette.
The ambulance is derived from the Latin word “ambulance”.

An ambulance is a vehicle which is used for saving people through the transport of sick or injured person to the hospital. It has a paramedical team and is also equipped with a life support system. An ambulance is fitted with a flashlight, siren, and alarms.

Ambulette is used for the transportation of a disabled person, wheelchair, and hydraulic lifts are normally seen in an ambulette. An ambulette carries more than more persons, and there are not used for emergency or threatening situation like an ambulance. Therefore there is no use of siren.
