Been and Gone are both used in the present perfect tense, their uses are different from each other and cannot also be used to replace each other.

Gone is the past particles of “go”. Gone is used to indicate an activity or activities which have been completed in the immediate past.

Examples in sentences:

1. He has just gone out.
2. He has gone to Ghana.
3. She has gone to bed.

The past particles of “be” is been. Been can be used as present perfect tense and also for perfect continuous tense. Been indicate an action that has happened in the past and is continuing.

Examples of sentences using the word “been”

1. He has been to London.
2. She has been sleeping for three hours.
