Abdominoplasty and tummy tuck are actually two different terms, which refers to just one procedure. Maybe one of the reasons responsible for the development of tummy tuck is because its pronunciation is very much easier, and it is also very easy to memorize instead of the original name, which is the former, abdominoplasty. Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is done to remove and get rid of extra skin and fat from a person.

It doesn't actually contribute to loss of weight in any way. The aim of the procedure is to restore weakened muscles. It also tightens the separated muscle. The final result of a tummy tuck process is that the abdomen will look very much firmer and also smoother. The process will also make the person appear a lot slimmer than normal, not to mention that the person would have a more proportionate waistline. A tummy tuck is what abdominoplasty is commonly called.

Abdominoplasty and the tummy tuck are performed to take away the extra skin and fat from a person’s abdomen. It does not accelerate weight loss; however, the procedure aims to repair any muscle that may be weak, and it also tightens any tissue that has been separated. The goal is to make the stomach appear firmer and smoother, as the person will also appear to be slimmer and their waist more in proportion with their body.

The people that go through this procedure must have fair to moderately good health. This reason is why some people are told to lose weight and come back, as there is a risk with surgery. Most tummy tucks necessitate the replacement of the navel. With abdominoplasty, the navel does not need to be replaced. With this type of surgery, there is less cutting involved, as it is meant to target those fat deposits which mostly reside below the navel area. This procedure is much faster, and less stress-inducing compared to a tummy tuck.
