Crystal glass is very delicate and more fragile than regular glass. It is incredible that something that is fashioned from melting quartz sand and lead oxide. Crystal glass has less than 24 percent lead, which makes it very fragile; however, it sparkles and has a clarity that is like no other. When you tap it softly with a spoon, it makes sweet music that is clear as crystal! Lead crystal has greater than the 24 percent of lead, and it is heavier, more substantial, and the higher the lead content, the sweeter the sound when tapped.

The lead provides more brilliance and sharp facets that are more reflective than the lower lead content crystal. The lead content can cause some concern as high acid foods and beverages can cause lead leakage when exposed to prolonged periods.

Both the crystal and the lead crystal glassware are made up of materials such as manganese, silica sand, soda, and lime. But in the case of lead crystal, lead is also added to it. Unlike crystals, the lead crystal is more expensive and also priced higher. The lead crystals also have added brilliance and sharp facets. While the crystals, on the other hand, do have rounded edges. The Lead crystal actually does sparkle more than the crystals. The lead crystals are very much clear and even brighter than the crystals,

which are less bright or dull. In terms of health issues, it is generally believed and said that lead crystals are actually not good for the human body because they contain lead, which is dangerous to human health. The first crystals were traced to around 500 BC in Mesopotamia, while the Lead crystals were discovered in 1674.
